Thirty Years of the Border Directors!


The band celebrated its 30th Anniversary at St James' Hall in Morpeth a large throng of dancers and a large cake!  The lineup was reinforced by the welcome visit of our two escapees, Peter Hawkey and Chris Ormston, plus our frequent guest fiddler and clog dancer Meg Wilson, creating a wall of sound not heard in these parts before.  Elaine shared some of the calling duties with our old friends Julie Dixon and Paul Murphy; the party also featured spots by Wercasfolk, Addison Rapper and great singer Jim Mageean.     (Thanks to Alison & Alan Starkey and Julie for the photos here.)



BORDER DIRECTORS IN ACTION FOR BURNS NIGHT!

 The band played again for a packed and kilted throng at the Holiday Inn's annual event.

NEW CD RELEASE

The long-awaited new Border Directors CD "Lowp Till Ye Cowp" is now available! The CD has 17 tracks, both traditional and penned by members of the band, notably the prolific Matt. It's taken several years to overcome all manner of problems and delays but finally all the pieces have come together.

Guest performers on a couple of tracks are Alice Burn (Northumbrian smallpipes) and Claire McTaggart (fiddle & viola), plus there is an archive track from the Barker's Yarka era when we were the Blue Moon Band, featuring legendary flautist Peter Hawkey. Track samples are elsewhere on the website.

The CD was launched in early November with a concert at the Chantry in Morpeth. Copies are available from the band at 12 including postage & packing (including overseas) - e-mail Derek or Matt (see contact page) or ring John on 01670 51739701670 517397.
